Glacier Fire Clouds I've only recently been able to get the real color out of this slide with my new scanner. I took this looking across the valley from "Going to the Sun Road". The mountain peak is directly below Logan Pass.
Chuckanut Sunset It looks like a sunset, but this was actually taken about three hours before sunset. You can see the sun shining through the tree on the top right of the image. I underexposed by two stops to hold detail in the bright spot on the water and hid the sun behind the tree. This made the image look much darker than it was.
Space Needle Sunrise Looking south from Kerry park on Saint Anne hill. This is the token Seattle shot, but what the hey!
Red Wall, Lake Powell I was struck by the incredible colors of this wall against the sky of very blue. The sky really is that blue in southern Utah and at night the stars really shine because there is little pollution. I didn't want to leave this area because it was such a haven for a shooting nut like me. And, the water wasn't bad either.:)
Glacier N.P., September 10, 2001 I took this at Glacier National Park, September 10, 2001. It was a disappointing week, and ended on a tragic note. Taken from Going to the Sun Road, a wildfire had darkened the sky and made quite a show at sunset. Much of the park was off limits because of the fire and it was fairly dangerous because many of the bears had been dislodged from their normal feeding grounds and migrated toward the populated areas. I was basically limited to the tourist areas. And then, driving home while listening to the reports on September, 11th, made for a memorable trip.
Logan Pass Logan Pass, Glacier National Park
Alaska Reflection Visiting our good friends in Alaska, we took a drive along the Seward Highway. We hit the fall colors just right and witnessed scenes like this everywhere. I was standing in a foot of muck next to the lake with my tripod in the water when I took this.
Alaska Rainbow Another from our visit to Alaska and our drive along the Seward Highway. I took this one as we were driving back on a tight schedule. Our hosts were gracious enough to put up with my delays.
Cannon Beach I took this during a family vacation at Cannon Beach in Oregon. It was a great trip because we just played with no particular plans. The beach kept everyone pretty occupied. I shot a lot of film.
An old barn near Chuckanut Drive I took this during a ski trip to whistler, B.C. After the first day I was so wiped out it was all I could do to just walk. So I took a little drive to the back country and shot some pictures of Canada.
Free Seagull I took this down on the beach next to a shellfish farm. There's a reason he looks so healthy. The proprietor of the farm regularly tosses out the scraps to the seagulls.
White Tree Flowers, Seattle LDS Temple Spring brought these beautiful flowering trees alive this year and I was there with my camera to witness it. This particular tree was on the grounds of the Seattle Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Cannon Beach Sunset Another view of Glacier. Yeah, I liked the place.
Mount Rainier Layers Mount Rainier Landscape
An old barn near Chuckanut Drive Yep, that's a farmer flying a kite in the dead of winter. Took this on the same day I took the barn shot in the B.C. back country. I guess farmers don't have a lot to do in the winter up there. Or maybe this guy just needed a break like the rest of us do sometimes.
Arches and the moon I took this at Arches National Park in Utah. I was heading home and happened to look over my shoulder and see the moon rising. I like the juxtaposition of the moon, a very big rock, to boulders on the earth.
Alaska Lake This is the scene that greeted us on our way to Seward. Alaska is cool.
Cannon Beach Sunset Another Cannon Beach sunset.
Cannon Beach Sunset The very well known and often rehashed view of Wild Goose Island in Glacier National Park.
Elliot Creek Waterfall This is one of many gorgeous views along the trail to Goat Lake in the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness area of Washington state.
Some of the most beautiful animals on the earth and I saw many this day.
